“My images are a blending of my life experiences in family, work
and community. The beginning of an artwork is always a search, a rough sketch, or an intuitive idea. This beginning is usually added to, revised, and refined. I am meticulous in my work and am not satisfied until I achieve the best I can with the given piece. The final product, I feel, is not an end in itself but rather another step along a visual journey. My goal as a Chicano artist is to express those images that first ring true to me and second make a strong visual statement.”
